Meet Indiegogo’s Evan Cohen

    • evan cohen indiegogo

Join us on August 4th at 6:30 pm as Indiegogo’s hardware expert, Evan Cohen, educates and empowers makers about crowdfunding. Learn from his experiences so you, too, can properly launch a campaign. Presentation will be followed by Q/A session.

Evan Cohen joined Indiegogo in 2014 to help educate and empower the growing maker community on the east coast of the United States. He works out of Indiegogo’s New York office, where he regularly engages in community events to help local technologists connect with the Indiegogo platform.

Prior to joining Indiegogo, Evan spent three years as a television producer and broadcast engineer, working on productions for Jimmy Kimmel Live, The United Nations World Food Programme, and Travel Channel. As a producer, Evan contributed to a number of incredible productions that have been watched by millions of people around the world.

Evan holds a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is an avid world traveler who has visited nearly 30 different countries.

Indiegogo is a way for people all over the world to join forces to make ideas happen. Since 2008, millions of contributors have empowered hundreds of thousands of inventors, musicians, do-gooders, filmmakers – and many more – to bring their dreams to life.

In celebration of the 2014 Philadelphia Geek Awards, we’re excited to announce an assembly event! On August 7, from 7-9pm, you have a chance to support Philadelphia’s geeks!

This year, we coupled our hi-tech machinery with our community’s innovative thinking to come up with a design inspired by the Tesla Coil. Don’t worry! Unlike the real Tesla Coil, we won’t be playing with high voltage.

Rules and Additional Details:

  • All experience levels welcome. Familiarity with soldering is a plus.

  • Materials and tools will be provided.

  • Must be at least 10 years of age and minors must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Limited capacity due to limited awards.

  • Completed awards will be given at the ceremony on August 16th (not taken home).

  • Due to the high desirability of the awards, we ask that the nominees keep a safe distance.

Acknowledgments:

In addition to Geekadelphia’s rad team of skilled geeks, we’d like to thank John Combs of Clear-Coat for designing the base and overall award and C.H. Briggs, a certified Corian distributor, for graciously donating top-of-the-line materials.

About The Philadelphia Geek Awards:

The Philadelphia Geek Awards is an awards ceremony honoring outstanding achievements in Philadelphia’s vibrant geek community, hosted by the Academy of Natural Sciences and Geekadelphia. It’s a black tie, red carpet event.
