  • Router Table Basics: Make Your Own Picture Frame

About the Course

Explore the router table, a versatile tool that can help take your projects to the next level. Learn about edge profiles by creating rabbets and roman ogees while assembling your own picture frame. Other techniques covered include: stopped cuts, creating keyholes, using MDF templates, and the Dubby Cutoff Sled.
Machine/tool access: Kreg Router Table
  1. Instructors will begin this class by reviewing the anatomy of the router table and bits, before demonstrating the proper setup of the machine. Once they review the proper and safe setup, as well as where to find all of the pieces, instructors will demonstrate the process of creating a picture frame, with members repeating the process on their own pieces.
  2. First, instructors will cut the molding profile, followed by cutting the rabbet. Then, they will ensure their saw blade is properly set up before rough-cutting the pieces to then cutting the pieces to the final length.
  3. After that, they will route the biscuit slots, glue up the frame, set up the V-nailing process (once it’s dry), cut out the keyhole, sand, finish it, and secure the final frame.
  4. Members will walk away with their own picture frames, as well as certification on the Kreg Router Table.
