SUMMARY:February Maker Happy Hour featuring Li Sumpter
DESCRIPTION:This artist talk will introduce attendees to the diverse ecologies and artistic disciplines that inform Li’s work\, including the boom4Real Escape Pod project—a series of mixed-media and wood works supported by resources of the NextFab residency\, including new maker skills from computer-assisted design to hands-on fabrication and woodworking\, which Li has utilized to expand her creative and community practice focused on the “art of survival”. boom4Real uses street art\, sacred geometry and afrofuturism to raise public awareness of the importance of self-reliance and community readiness in uncertain times. \nWorkshop participants are invited to make their own D.I.Y “escape artist” zine with survival tips inspired by real world and speculative headlines that mythologize the future of humanity and the planet. \nASL Interpretation and childcare available if requested by February 8. \nRSVP HERE
