Digital Fabrication Technical Supervisor

NextFab is seeking an engaging, talented, and enthusiastic person to support our Digital Fabrication Shop, which includes 2D and 3D printing and laser cutting. NextFab is a collaborative makerspace and business accelerator. We provide access to machinery, education, membership, community, events, rental space, and professional services to enable innovators to turn ideas into products and products into businesses. We are looking for candidates for the position who feel passionate about supporting the mission and work of our organization and our customers. NextFab offers excellent benefits, including employer-covered premiums, professional development, and the opportunity to use the NextFab facilities outside of working hours. This is a temporary 12-month assignment. Work is to be performed on-site at our North Philadelphia location.
Compensation / Benefits:
Full-time employees are eligible for our benefits package after 90 days, including PTO, health, vision, and dental plans, and a professional development allowance.
Salary Range:

• $18-21/hr, based on experience.
• PTO (PTO accrued at a rate equivalent to 160 hr per year)
• Limited personal use of company facilities
• Professional Development Allowance: $1600 toward professional training, certification, or conferences, prorated based on start date
• Allowance does not roll over

Requirements:

Location Technical Support:

• Provide customer service, technical assistance, safety supervision, and formal and informal instruction to NextFab members in a friendly and courteous manner
• Know and enforce NextFab safety, courtesy, and access policies
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe functionality of the shop and tools
• Ensure NextFab policies are followed. Guarantee the safety and security of members and employees by following established guidelines and procedures regarding risk management.
• Provide technical support to other operational departments as needed
• Occasional other duties as requested by management

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds at times.
• Prolonged periods of standing and sitting in a shop environment.
• Must have a full range of physical motion as required to properly operate manual and electric power tools and equipment.

Schedule:

• This is a temporary 12-month position.
• Evening and weekend hours are required.
• The person in this role will work full time, 30 hours per week.

Requirements

• Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of experience in digital fabrication or laser cutting

Desirable Skills:

• Required Skills and Abilities:
• Experience working in a technical environment.
• Experience with digital fabrication is required.
• Thorough understanding of digital fabrication tools, techniques, and terminology.
• Experience with digital fabrication and/ or laser cutting is a plus.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator is required.
• CAD experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills are required.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
• Ability to work well with others.
