  • sew your own jeans workshop (1)

About the Course

Craft a unique, handcrafted pair of blue jeans tailored to your exact fit in this open-to-the-public, 2.5-day workshop. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced sewist, this program will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to create a professional-grade garment you’ll love. In this workshop, you’ll work with premium denim, professional hardware and notions, and tools specific for workwear and denim, resulting in a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted pair of new blue jeans just for you!

Yes, you can make jeans on your home sewing machine, but using industrial equipment to sew denim is a game-changer. At NextFab you’ll sew on our straight-stitch machines and sergers and have access to all the single-use machines (like the rivet press, bar tack, and buttonhole). The class focuses on construction techniques with slight tweaks for fitting (length, waist-hip grading). Never used an industrial sewing machine? Not a problem. NextFab has an industrial sewing jumpstart track you can take in advance.

Students will be using a straight-legged, high-rise, rigid denim pattern. Denim kits and hardware will be available for purchase on-site.

Tuition: $700 (includes 2.5 days of instruction, 2 lunches, snacks throughout the day, first night drinks, and final night champagne).
Denim kit (includes 2 yards denim, + hardware kit with zipper, pattern): $75.
Hardware-only kit (if you bring your own denim) includes hardware, zipper, pattern: $30.
