Join us for an evening of virtual visits with NextFab and Fleisher Art Memorial. We’ll take a look at the studio spaces and equipment available for art-making at both spaces through images and 3-D tours. We’ll also speak with artist Kevin Huang, who straddles both institutions and explore the possibilities of NextFab and Fleisher through his work and his vision.
Kevin is a Philadelphia-based artist. In addition to the Fleisher’s Wind Challenge Exhibition Series, he was awarded a Brooklyn Arts Council grant. His work is included in corporate and individual collections internationally. He earned a bachelor of architecture and a master of science in community and regional planning from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He continues to learn new making techniques and tools at NextFab, where he has incorporated woodworking, metalworking, and digital technology into his one-of-a-kind artwork. He credits his apprenticeship to Ernest Porcelli Art Glass for developing his skills as a glassmaker and values his work as an assistant on sculptural projects by Mark Ferguson, Jim Dine, Holly Morse, and Tom Miles.
This event is open to the public with a suggested donation of $10 but is limited to a maximum number of 100 participants. Advanced registration is required. The event will be hosted through Zoom, which can be accessed on desktop and laptop computers, as well as mobile devices. We highly recommend downloading the Zoom app to your device in advance.
