There’s something deeply satisfying about making something with your own hands that’s functional, beautiful, and entirely yours. But the gap between “I wish I could do that” and actually doing it? That’s where most people get stuck.

This spring, we’re launching two new programs designed to help you bridge the gap from curious beginner to a more confident maker in just six weeks. No prior experience needed and no expensive tools to buy. Just you, expert instruction, and a cohort of fellow makers building their skill sets alongside you.

Building Furniture: Welding Custom Table Legs

Wednesdays, March 25 – May 6 | 4:30-7:30 PM

Ever walked past a metal fabrication shop and wondered what it would feel like to actually create something in there? This is your chance.

Learn MIG welding to design and fabricate a custom table base or set of legs in our fully equipped metal shop. Over six weeks, you’ll go from “I’ve never touched a welder” to confidently working with mild steel.

What you’ll learn:

• Metal shop orientation
• MIG welding fundamentals for steel
• Design thinking and project planning
• Cutting, material prep, and fixturing techniques
• Welding practice (lots of it)
• Post-processing and finishing

You’ll work with steel box tube, angle iron, and flat bar to shape your vision into reality. Here’s the best part: Once you finish your metal base, you’ll have the skills and shop access to build a custom wooden top in our woodshop.

Craft a Custom Shadow Lamp with Digital Fabrication

Thursdays, March 26 – May 7 | 4:30-7:30 PM

This course combines laser cutting, 3D printing, and design software to help you build a custom shadow projection lamp from scratch. You’ll learn the complete digital fabrication workflow from concept to finished product.

What you’ll learn:

• Adobe Illustrator workflows for laser cutting
• Laser cutting techniques with acrylic and plywood
• 3D printing basics and lithophane creation
• Material selection, prototyping, and finishing
