About the Course

If you’ve ever wanted to make your own dinnerware, this class is definitely for you! Advance your lathe skills and tool-set, while learning how to turn bowls, plates, cups, and other types of vessels. You’ll learn how to cut and mount bowl blanks, use a bowl gouge effectively, and apply finish to bowls on the lathe.

1. Instructors will review the tools and machines covered in class, including the Nova Wood Lathe, JET Wood Lathe, Bowl Gouge, and the Parting Tool.
2. After reviewing the safety of the machine and lathe area, instructors will review the lathe parts and setup, and demonstrate how to set up the first blank and rough out a bowl exterior.
3. After demoing how to set up and finish the exterior of the bowl, members will be given their own blank to create and leave the class with their own turned bowl.
