Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney visited our Washington Ave location with the Director of The Philadelphia Department of Commerce, Harold Epps, and other city officials, for a tour with NextFab Founder and President, Evan Malone.

Mayor Kenney gets a tour of the NextFab makerspace

The Mayor was intrigued with the “awesome, high-tech” things happening at NextFab, and was very impressed with our Incubator companies after spending time talking to them about their projects. We are very excited that Mayor Kenney and Director Epps expressed interest in potential collaborative initiatives to benefit more of Philadelphia’s neighborhood.

The VIP group were able to connect with a number of our staff and members. One lucky member, Ankur Aggarwal of TowerView Health, shared his team’s vision for their connected medicine dispenser. According to NextFab’s founder, Evan Malone, “The Mayor and Director Epps were both very impressed by Jon Knauer of ConnectDER, Ankur Aggarwal of TowerView, Kurt Swanson of Likuma, and Tom Panzarella of Love Park Robotics.”

It was a fun morning for everybody involved.

We love connecting with the greater community, and that’s not limited to VIPs. What’s that you say? You’re not a city mayor or politician? Do not fret. If you’d like to visit NextFab, stop on by for your own personal tour. Just like the Mayor, you’ll have the chance to walk through the space and meet staff and members.

We have regularly-scheduled tours in both locations. everyday from 2-6pm. Tours begin every half hour.
